Jobs and Skills WA Funded Training

Railtrain is proud to be a Jobs and Skills WA contracted private training provider, approved by the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) to deliver subsidised training under the following programs:

  • Priority Industry Training (PIT) – Existing Worker Category
  • Apprenticeships and Traineeships – Transport and Storage Trades Category

These programs are part of Western Australia’s vocational training system. They are designed to help individuals gain the skills required for high-demand occupations across the rail, transport, and logistics sectors.

Priority Industry Training (PIT) – Existing Worker Category

The PIT program focuses on making available a range of qualifications that address priority industry needs.

Under the Existing Worker Category, PIT provides subsidised training to help currently employed workers upskill or gain qualifications aligned to priority industries such as:

  • Rail operations
  • Transport and logistics
  • Infrastructure and maintenance
  • Safety-critical job roles

Eligibility (PIT – Existing Worker Category)

Learners must:

  • Live in Western Australia
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold an eligible visa
  • Be employed at the time of enrolment
  • Meet any qualification-specific prerequisites
  • Not be a full-paying international student

Eligibility is confirmed against DTWD’s VET Fees and Funding Policy at the time of enrolment.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships – Transport & Storage Trade Category

Traineeships combine paid employment with nationally recognised training.
The Jobs & Skills WA program provides subsidised training for approved qualifications across the Transport and Storage Trades industry area.

Railtrain delivers traineeships for job roles in:

  • Rail operations, specifically TLI42622 Certificate IV in Train Driving

Eligibility (Traineeships)

To access funding, learners must:

  • Reside in Western Australia
  • Be employed by a business willing to sign a training contract
  • Hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or an eligible visa
  • Meet DTWD enrolment requirements
  • Not be a full-fee international student

Training contracts are registered through an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider.

Tuition Fees, Indicative Pricing & Fee Caveat (Mandatory)

In line with DTWD requirements, Railtrain publishes indicative fees for all Jobs and Skills WA funded qualifications and skill sets.

The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change based on individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply, such as resource fees and other charges.
Fees are charged in accordance with the VET Fees and Charges Policy.

Indicative fees for each funded qualification are published on our Fees page within 30 calendar days of receiving a Contracted Provider Schedule (CPS), as required.

Fee Category Definitions

  • Non-concession (25+ years) – standard fee rate for adult learners
  • Non-concession youth (17–24 years) – reduced youth rate where applicable
  • Concession – holders of approved concession cards and other eligible groups
  • Targets multiple program types – PIT, traineeships, apprenticeships, general industry training, foundation skills, etc.
