Are you looking for skills that will help you get a head start when applying for jobs in the rail sector?

The Rail Operations Fundamentals Skill Set (TLISS00224) is nationally recognised training and a great choice for people who want to work in the rail industry. It teaches participants how to safely access the rail corridor, follow important rail safety rules, and communicate and work well with others on the job, and can give you a head start on the qualifications required for train driving.

COURSE DELIVERY

Course delivery is a combination of self-paced online learning plus 3 days face-to-face classroom contact and practical training.

LOCATION

The classroom and practical training is delivered at Railtrain’s Perth Airport training facilities.

Workshops will be scheduled to meet participant demand and minimum learner number requirements.

COURSE INFORMATION

The skill set covers vital competencies for the railway industry, including railway fundamentals, radio communication, risk assessments and other safety procedures, corridor access, fatigue management, and effective teamwork.

Participants who successfully complete this training will be well-equipped to excel in the dynamic and safety-conscious rail environment.

A total of seven units of competency must be attained:

  • TLIB3118 Apply awareness of railway fundamentals
  • TLIE2007 Use communications systems
  • TLIF0008 Apply safety critical communications in the rail environment
  • TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor
  • TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures
  • TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies
  • TLIG0003 Work effectively with others in a team

There are no prerequisites required to enter this course

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN)

As part of the enrolment process, you will be assessed to confirm you have the LLN skills required to work in the rail industry.

COST

The cost for the course, including workshop theory and practical training, is $900 (GST Free), to be paid as part of enrolment.
