Position Description:

• Safely working within rail maintenance and construction crews
• Carry out rail maintenance and construction requirements as per client requests
• Carry out track ballasting operations
• Installation of railways sleepers
• Installation and repair of rail fastening systems
• Carry out rail installation
• Abide by all set safety protocols/procedures
• Attend and participate in all safety related activities i.e. pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and safe act observations.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Minimum C Class Drivers’ License (HR class would be preferred)
• Associated Track Access Accreditations
• Proven experience in track construction and maintenance
• Ability to pass a CAT 3 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen.

Railtrain is seeking Expressions of Interest for experienced Train Drivers to fill positions with various clients based across Australia. Positions offered are on an on-going basis.

Position Description:

• Flexible residential rosters inclusive of both day and night shifts
• Driving locomotives hauling freight or bulk commodities across the Australian Railway network.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Current train drivers’ qualifications and competencies
• Follow legislative and regulatory values on safe working practices
• Must have demonstrated recent experience operating locomotives
• First Aid and Dangerous Goods qualifications preferred but not essential as some training can be provided
• Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen.

Railtrain is seeking Expressions of Interest for Shunters to fill positions with various clients based across Australia. Positions offered are on an on-going basis.

Position Description:

• Coordinating with Yard Supervisor in planning shunting operations for rolling stock
• Loading/unloading rolling stock
• Communicate and negotiate with yard personnel, reading and interpreting instructions/procedures in marshalling and shunting
• Identify equipment requirements and carry out pre-start checks
• Coupling and uncoupling rolling stock
• Operating points and signals.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Experience in shunting and follow safety procedures in marshalling rolling stock
• High level of communications in shunting and marshalling operations
• Comprehensive knowledge in correct shunting procedures
• Understand principles in the operation of protective devices, air brakes, handbrakes and derailers
• Able to complete documents related to the organisation of marshaling and shunting operations
• Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen

Railtrain is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Track Machine Operators to fill positions with various clients based across Australia. Positions offered are on an on-going basis.

Position Description:

• Operating Production/Switch Tamper and Ballast Regulator Track Machines
• Working with Surface Track Machine crews on rail maintenance and ballast cleaning
• Abide by safety procedures, conducting pre-start checks on machinery and safe operations
• General track machine maintenance.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Minimum MR Drivers’ License (HR would be preferred)
• Associated Track Access Accreditation
• Track Machine Operator tickets/qualifications
• Proven experience in operating rail Track Machines (Regulators and Tampers)
• Experience in track construction and maintenance
• Ability to pass a CAT 3 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen

Railtrain is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Rail Welders to fill positions with various clients based across Australia. Positions offered are on an on-going basis.

Position Description:

• Coordinating works and planning consumables for welding projects with Maintenance Manager
• Leading welding team/offsiders
• Re-railing works in track construction and maintenance
• Competent use of mobile/fixed aluminothermic, flashbutt and boutet welding equipment.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Associated Track Access Accreditation
• Proven experience in Aluminothermic, Flashbutt (Fixed/Mobile) and Boutet welding techniques
• Extensive track construction and maintenance experience
• Welding tickets/qualifications
• Hot Works permit (essential but not compulsory)
• Ability to pass a CAT 3 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen

Highly desirable:

• Weld rail using aluminothermic welding process TLIW3015A
• Heat and cut materials using Oxy-LPG equipment for the rail industry TLIW3035A

Railtrain is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Permanent Way Patrollers to fill positions with various clients based across Australia. Positions offered are on an on-going basis.

Position Description:

• Routine and  reactive railway inspections of the reserve and perway
• Clear understanding of safety and operational limits on maintaining and repairing reserve and perway assets
• Operating on-track rail equipment and inspection vehicles
• Assess, plan and execute safety plans as per railway rules safety requirements.

Requirements:

• High level of safety awareness
• Associated Track Access Accreditation
• Demonstrated knowledge of perway technical standards
• Experience in maintaining a safe and practical perway
• Ability to identify and report any railway faults and defects
• Track maintenance experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen
